A study was conducted by CAT in the Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary, Thane District, Mumbai. This study was a socio-economic survey of local communities living within the Protected Area.
The objectives of this study were:
- To determine the impact of human habitation on the forests of the Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary
- To establish the extent of dependency and pressure exerted on the forest by the people residing in and around Sanctuary
- To determine the effect the Scheduled Tribes And Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition Of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 on the Protected Area
