CAT collaborated with various other interested parties a study to assess the carrying capacity of Mumbai city.
This study aimed to determine whether the city of Mumbai can support the existing human population and provide a decent and adequate quality of life, based on the present infrastructure, amenities and natural resources. It was also to be determined whether the city of Mumbai can support the projected human population growth in the future. Various steps were assessed that are required to be taken to augment the infrastructure and amenities so as to ensure that the existing population and the projected population are taken care of, and make the city more sustainable.
The project involved networking, coordinating and collaboration with a diverse set of experts working in various fields, data collection pertaining to all aspects of Mumbai city. Under this project a comprehensive report was produced that analyses the status, suitability and sufficiency of various infrastructural facilities, utilities, and natural resources available and planned for the city of Mumbai. This document will be very useful for decision makers, town planners, developers and general public for planning the future of this city.
