CAT collaborated with various other interested parties in a study to assess the carrying capacity of Mumbai city.
This study was carried out to determine whether the city of Mumbai can support the existing human population and provide a decent and adequate quality of life, based on the present infrastructure, amenities and natural resources. It will also be determining whether the city of Mumbai can support the projected human population growth in the future. It will be assessing the various steps required to be taken to augment the infrastructure and amenities so as to ensure that the existing population and the projected population are taken care of, and make the city more sustainable.
